Two of the apostles, Bartholemew and Thaddeus ended their days in Armenia spreading Christianity. That is why we officially call it the "Armenian Apostolic Church". Years later, in 301 AD, St. Gregory the Illuminator (Surp Krikor Luisavorich) converted King Tiridates of Armenia who officially declared Armenia a Christian nation, the first nation in the world to become officially Christian. In the year 2001, Armenians will celebrate the 1700th anniversary of the official conversion.
