Liar, liar... Obama the typical politician.
January, 2008, Obama the candidate:
"The Armenian genocide is not an allegation, a personal opinion or a point of view, but rather a widely documented fact supported by an overwhelming body of historical evidence," he said in a January 2008 statement on his campaign website. "America deserves a leader who speaks truthfully about the Armenian genocide and responds forcefully to all genocides. I intend to be that president."
April, 2009, Obama the president:
Both in Turkey (when asked) and in his April 24th statement, completely avoided using the term Genocide. He did hypocritically state however that "My interest remains the achievement of a full, frank and just acknowledgment of the facts."
It's like talking about the Holocaust without using the word Holocaust, lest you offend the Germans. As if it's the German's feelings that are important in that case.
So we continue waiting for justice, watching the last of the ancient survivors dying off, until soon, not one will be left to hear the United States, supposed beacon of democracy and human rights, use the right word to describe the hell on earth they lived through.

Relax, without Turkey the US cannot get out of Iraq. Plus he has 3 more years (possibly 7 more) to say ''Genocide." We already know he believed it happened, its inevitable. Armenians need patience.
What exactly do you mean the US cannot get out of Iraq without Turkey? It got in through the Persian Gulf and can get out through the Persian Gulf just fine.
And if already in year one he dodged the proper word for what happened, what are you basing your theory on that our patience would be rewarded?
That's the thing..
Throughout our entire history the Armenian people have been patient and loyal. After 94 years, I don't think we can afford to be patient anymore. If Armenians hadn't entered the political sphere and taken to lobbying and activism, the topic of the genocide would've immediately dissipated. What we have unfortunately come to learn is that whatever you want, whether you deserve it or not (as in justice), you have to fight to gain it. For this reason, I think that we need more pressure and less patience for the issue. The genocide commemoration has turned into an annual event rather than an urgent call for justice.
I personally wasn't expecting Obama to use the word Genocide or push Genocide recognition within his first 100 days in office, on the heels of a visit to Turkey. In his first term I don't think Armenian issues are on the top of his list of priorities. The man is a politician and most probably hoping for a second term. In his first 100 days in office his priorites are building bridges, forging relationships and aligning himself politically for the years to come... To have expected that what hasn't happened in 94 years under any U.S. President was going to happen in Obama's first 100 days in office simply isn't realistic or fair! Give the man a chance...
