Soccer - So We Lost...
Okay - so we lost 2 - 0, but I think I am one of the few who is actually impressed that Turkey only got two points. Hopefully Armenia will start channeling more money into sports and athletes. Fortunately health is becoming more important for Armenians given the recent openings of a number of gyms including Gold Gym (so I've heard) and a Russian franchise of Orange Fitness. Maybe a couple of years from now our athletes won't smoke and can put on a better fight!

I think Armenia needs to focus on individual sports. How can a team pulled from a population of 3 million people be expected to beat a team from a country of 70 or 150 million people?
But it really was not a bad outcome (2-0) for Armenia. 1-1 would have been MUCH nicer, but this was definitely respectable.
Just look at how Senegal upset France with a win a few years back and outperformed everyones expectations of them.. I think other nations/teams typically perform better because they have proper funding to ensure that they can focus 100% on the sport and not have to worry about making ends and supporting their families by a financial means. Take someone like Michael Phelps who has the advantage of being sponsored up to his neck and doesn't have to worry about anything other than swimming fast... It's not like he was born with some super-human swimming ability.... That and I think Armenians perform better at individual sports because of our infamous attitude towards things (everyones a superstar and wants to score the goals!) ;)
