Armenian Events Calendar
I started Calendar.am years ago as an Armenian community calendar for the whole diaspora and Armenia. People could add their own events, and I thought it would catch on and get widespread use. Well it seems not too many people bother add events, and only in a couple of communities did people take ownership of their sites and go with it.
Visiting LA afforded me the chance to meet some new people, some of whose sites I'd seen online. Vahe, who along with some others started ArmenianCalendar.com was one of the guys who is working hard with similar aims on the calendar front. His site however is much more advanced, and is slowly incorporating ticketing as well. I saw all the good stuff he's working on at his office and the dedication he's put into it all, it's very impressive.
Rather than have both of us doing the same things on two sites, it makes a lot more sense to merge them, and talking face-to-face made it easier. A feed from ArmenianCalendar.com now greets visitors to Calendar.am and eventually Calendar may just redirect you to ArmenianCalendar! :-)
What am I trying to say? Check out ArmenianCalendar.com and keep up with what's going on in your area - plus be sure to submit events which aren't listed! The more people know about these events, the more successful (and worthwhile/fun) they'll be, and that will all allow for more quality events in the future...

i got this email from the common ground about that on feb. 26 turkish foreign minister abdullah gul was shocked when he saw an armenian genocide dvd in the time magazine issue on his plane... there will be a screening of this dvd on tuesday march 13th at 7:30pm in the common ground's meeting hall... the film is in english... please email nanik@commonground.am if interested...
this is copy-pasted from the email:
"The Feb. 12, 2007 issue of the European edition of TIME magazine carries a full-page factual announcement on the Armenian Genocide, along with a complimentary DVD, in English and French, which contains a compelling 52-minute documentary on the Armenian Genocide by French director Laurence Jourdan. The DVD also includes a 46-minute interview with Dr. Yves Ternon, a leading expert on the Armenian Genocide.
Both the DVD and the full-page ad were provided free of charge by TIME Europe (circulation 550,000) after realizing that its staff, without proper review, had inserted in the June 6, 2005 issue of TIME Europe a Turkish DVD as a paid advertisement under the guise of promoting tourism to Turkey. The Turkish DVD, paid for by the Ankara Chamber of Commerce, was a deceitful attempt to spread malicious lies and denialist propaganda on the Armenian Genocide.
Subsequently, Michael Elliott, the Editor of TIME International, issued the following public statement, "Please be advised that, in common with other leading news organizations, it is TIME's policy and practice to refer to the Armenian genocide as a historical fact. Accordingly, I will be informing our correspondents and editors that the term 'Armenian genocide' should be used without qualification."
