Armenians most successful in UK!
I mean, we always say it, but here are actual statistics :-)
The Times, UK
Sept 10 2006
ARMENIAN immigrants and their descendants are the most successful ethnic group in the country, according to an analysis of "melting pot" Britain.
...
Of the 2,651 people of Armenian descent in Britain, more than 1,600 run businesses and a high proportion live in expensive parts of west London.
Among the most successful is Bob Manoukian, property developer and former agent for Prince Jefri of Brunei. He has a family fortune of £300m, according to The Sunday Times Rich List.
Other successful people with Armenian roots include David Dickinson, presenter of the BBC's Bargain Hunt, and Ara Palamoudian, chairman of the Armenian community & church council of Great Britain.
He said: "Armenians have always tried to be self-sufficient and not to be a burden on any country. It could be the history of the Armenian people, the way their lives have been over centuries. They had to find shelter around the world."
Many Armenians fled to England after the first world war, during which up to 1.5m died, amid allegations of genocide by the Turks.
Other waves arrived in the 1970s and 1980s.

It is nice to know that we have successful compadres in Britain. Years ago I even heard it in the news that the government renewed the lease of Big Ben with the owner that is Armenian and lives in Switzerland. The thing is that we see the French and American Armenians more active when it comes to telethons and projects helping rebuild Armenia. It kind of reminds me of Kalust Gulbenkian Story. The guy lived in England, but left most of his fortune to the people in Portugal. The same can be said about Mantashoff. He built palaces, and Theatre in Tbilisi for Armenians with a marvelous architecture, but today Gorgians claim it as Georgian National Theatrical house and the "poor" rich Mantashoff doesnt even have a decent gravecite in Georgia.
Ask not what Armenia can do for you, Ask what you can do for Armenia.
I wish Kennedy was Armenian. LOL.
It is great to know that we have rich Armenians in England. Long live the Queen and the Prosperous Armenians of England.

Now really everyone,....did you think it was by accident my family left the USA to live in England??
:)
We rock. lol
Seriously though this is good proof for what I always say, it makes me proud to see that all my family's friends who have come here with nothing have built successful lives for themselves, often more successful than native Brits, this drive comes from somewhere - I don;t know where, but it makes you proud every time.
It is great to hear that British Armenian immigrants are so successful. However, unfortunately the community as a whole, except for a few individual cases, is one of the least active Armenian communities. I wish they did transfer those successes into building up the "Community".
In UK Armenians are just a drop in the ocean. Plus the community has zero lobbing power in contrast to the Jewish community which with insignificant number or percentage of population has a higher percentage of MPs (I think over 16 and many more supporting the Committee of Deputies of the British Jews).
