Armenian plane from Yerevan crashes
Minutes after I wrote my last blog of excitement, I heard the news about the Armenian plane crash.
If I understood correctly, the Armavia plane, with about 113 people on board, was heading to Sochi from Yerevan, but due to bad weather the plane crashed into the Black Sea.
So far it looks like everyone on board was killed.
My heart is crushed. Let all their souls be in our prayers.

It is a big disaster for a country so small... everyone in Yerevan is shaking their heads...
News says that the crew asked for emergency landing but Sochi Airport declined because of the bad weather. The question is that why they asked for emergency landing? weather can be the issue but also the technical state of the plane. Armavia says that it was fully checked in April and rechecked before the flight, however I've been an Armavia passenger and I was not impressed: the general impression was that the Armavia bosses tried to squeeze as much money as they could from the overpriced tickets. Food was rotten, the paper bags were given only on request, the airplane cabin was dirty and assembled from different airplane parts, the exterior was decayed.
It looked like a plane made out of other 3 not fit to use planes.
And this was a long distance European flight.
Unfortunately the New Armenian capitalists learn (if they really do) only on the expense of others lives.
This is all true from the airlines to construction to mining.
The relatives of perished should persure an independent investigation to stop this happeneing again.
Apparently this was just an 11 year old Airbus, and it was not a long flight... it was not an ancient Soviet craft. It almost made it...

i will boycott Armavia and do everything possible to fly with other airlines into armenia. I've also been on armavia before and agree that they're overdoing on the cost cutting measures.
I recommend others to boycott Armavia as well until they've proven that they are of equal quality to other high standard airlines.
The conspiracy theory of the moment is that even though on paper the plane had plenty of fuel, in fact there was very little left in the tanks as the fuel either was siphoned off for the black market before the take off or never was up to par with what it should've been.
The plane then simply ran out of fuel on the second attempt to land, which is confirmed by the georgian air dispatcher on tape, which accidentaly neither the russians nor armenians wanted to admit existed, then gave up and said it does exist but most of it should be left out from the public airing for the "respect for the families" reason.
If this is true, a proper respect for the families would be hanging people involved in the middle of Yerevan, for purely educational reasons of course.
I'll say this country looooves conspiracy theories... they spread like wildfire. As usual, I doubt it's true.
What Tim says might be the truth since those planes were used to import aerofuel from Russia as the monopolist importer is the same person who owns Armavia. It is also a well know practice in Armenia from early 90s to fill in the minium in Yerevan since that way you can fill in lots in places where fuel much more cheaper in Russia.
The fuel thing becomes a thing to pay more attantion to since not even asked the owner of Armavia declared that the plane had enough fuel.
Another story says that the plane didnt go through the checks in April. Whatever happened one thing is surely true - Armavia planes were more like old RAF marshrootkas in the roads of Yerevan, patch-up, over-used and treated to their last breath. As i posted earlier i used Armavia on a round trip flight, I promised myself to avoid it whenever possible and advise others to do so, since I saw this comeing.
Officially the pilots will be found the responsible however sooner or later the real ones will be punished. We just can wait and see what happens having im mind that many important people or close relatives of powerful people were in that flight.
