Andre, Bins and HAYQ

Very cool news, Andre representing Armenia in Eurovision (one of the biggest pop music contests in Europe) has qualified to take part in the second pool.

Out of 23 countries that performed tonight, Armenia was chosen along with 9 other countries.

The final, which takes place this Saturday in Athens, includes 24 countries. The country that wins in that round will host next year's contest.

I keep forgetting to mention something I noticed in Yerevan after my return. It's actually a BIG accomplishment ... plastic garbage bins all over the city - well actually all over downtown Yerevan. I wonder if people are actually using them and if the city is emptying them when they get full.

Back to the subject of the group I've been working on - HAYQ. The guys are doing such a great job at publicizing themselves. Just a couple of days ago, within a period of 10 hours, they did two TV interviews, two radio interviews, and we had two meetings with potential investors. Sadly, most of these so-called potential investors seem like snakes. We'd love to do this independantly, but unfortunately lack of money plays a big issue.

If you are in Armenia early June, the group will be performing at Yerevan's Cascade at the Childrens Rights concert, as well as in Vanadzor and Gyumri.

YAY! Trash bins... GREAT idea... I would often walk 2-3 blocks with an empty ice cream wrapper in my hand, searching for a trashcan. No wonder people throw them on the floor. "Put Trash Where It Belongs" :)

I'd like to let you know that this song by HAYQ is not only sweeping Armenia but LA as well. Within a matter of a week, all of my friends and cousins heard this song for the first time and we have tried to get this CD. I even called a couple of CD stores and none of them had it. So we've been watching H1 and Armenia TV in hopes of catching the video. We even downloaded the video and started sharing it. I'm going to be in Armenia on June 9th. Will they be performing at an clubs or any concerts? Keep up the good work with them. If there is anyhing that people like us can do here, let us know.

Also, Andre coming in 8th place is awsome for Armenia.

Next year we will be 1st.

Hello anonymous,

The group has a couple of shows coming up this week, one at the Cascade with (if I'm not mistaken) Armenchik, Nune, and a few others, and another with a few "stars" from Russia at another venue.

Then in mid-June they will be heading up north.

I will post show dates on forthcoming logs for anyone interested.

Hey Der Hova, so they are heading up North ??? Well thats amazing, i am so happy for them! So would up North be Canada ??? Are they going to be playing for the Armenian Diaspora there ???

I love their music and think its wonderful that Armenia is progressing finaly. Just make sure they sing live next time they perform infront of thousands of people. I was at Cascade that day ... Just my advice as an old music expert.
