DC April 24 Demo with SOAD

Sneak peak of photos from today's April 24 Demonstration in DC infront of the Turkish Embassy, as well as the Turkish counter-protesters.

Serj Tankian speaking with a reporter from the LA Times.

John Dolmayan upfront at the protest.

Turkish and Azerbaijani counter-protesters.

There's MUCH more to see later.

Just a quick side-note, there were about 1000 Armenians in attendance today, which is quite unprecedented in the small Washington Armenian community. Thank you to all who attended.

My Operatives on the scene said there was a scuffle with the police. Is that true? ...Gotta double check the sources.

Nothing to talk about. Someone just got a little over-excited, but the situation was quickly controlled and subdued. I will mention that John was very interested in going to the Turkish side to talk to them and educate them, but for obvious security reasons, it didn't happen. I will give a full report on the activities of this week when it's done. Sorry, but I'm on no sleep and photo overdrive. Today was another eventful day.

This is bad news. Counter demonstrations by Turks ?

It is not sufficient that the criminal denies the charge but has the insolence to "demonstrate" his criminality as innocence.

I would like to see counter demonstrations of Germans disputing the events of their never ending penance when Jews observe their ceremonies.
I wonder what the reaction would be.
There is legislation and iron clad laws to prevent doubting any Jewish misadventures in history, but no such laws exist to remember Armenian suffering and genocide.

The Turkish counter-protests have only been received negatively to the point where in interviews with Serj and John, it allowed them to show why this issue is so relevant today, because this is what we are faced with. When presented to someone who knows nothing about the subject, it can be hard to understand why we are talking about it to this day. The counter-protest put a face to the denial and helps the public understand why this is relevant today. I wouldn't even waste concern over the Turks because they are only digging their hole by making more noise.
