Ուրբաթ առավոտյան դասի գնալիս կարդում էի Կունդերայի “Les Testaments Trahis” – չեմ ուզում թարգմանել, քանի որ խոսքը հենց թարգմանությունների մասին է:-) Էսսեի մի մասը վերաբերում էր Կաֆկայի ստեղծագործությունների թարգմանությանը, և Կունդերան հետաքրքիր մի դիտարկում է անում թարգմանիչների մասին` նկատելով նրանց հատուկ սերը հանդեպ հոմանիշները եւ կրկնությունից խուսափելու ցանկությունը: Նա նշում է, որ սա թերևս բնական է, քանի որ թարգմանիչների արհեստվարժությունը գնահատվում է հենց օտար լեզվի բառապաշարի ծավալով:-) Մինչդեռ կարևոր է հասկանալ, թե հեղինակն ինչպես է օգտագործում լեզուն իր նպատակներին հասնելու համար, և թարգմանչի համար կարևորը այդ գիծը մեկ այլ լեզվով ընկալելի դարձնելն է, այլ ոչ թե իր անհատականության ներկայության ապահովումը թարգմանության մեջ: Սա ինձ անմիջապես հիշեցրեց “Lady Chatterley’s Lover” ռուսերեն թարգմանությունը. առաջին անգամ գիրքը կարդացել եմ հենց այդ ռուսերեն թարգմանությամբ և ոչ մի կերպ չէի կարողանում հասկանալ, թե այն ինչ գեղարվեստական կամ ընդհանրապես որևէ արժեք կարող է ներկայացնել, մինչդեռ բնօրինակը կարդալուց հետո այն իմ ամենսիրած ստեղծագործություններից մեկը դարձավ:-)
