Fog light or lipstick?
In Armenia many of the cars are not equipped with fog lights. This has become quite a problem these past few weeks - imagine not being able to see the Foreign Ministry from the Marriott - both located in Republic Square.
Last week as I was taking a cab from downtown, the driver asked me whether I had lipstick. I thought, hmm... what an odd question for a cab driver to ask. It turns out that during times of heavy fog, most drivers will take a reddish/pink shaded lipstick and use it to cover a large part of the headlights... unfortunately I did not have any on me - but I do now notice a lot of pretty shaded headlights. Maybe MAC should explore a new product line??
Despite the continuing fog, three airplanes landed and four departed from Zvartnots yesterday. I'm hoping I can also leave on the 17th... otherwise Armavia will transport me to Gyumri Airport and fly me out of there... this scares me...

Sorry for the unusual message. However, I was attending one of my close friends newborn Bris in Newton, MA when my wife and I met an older couple from Lexington, MA. They knew my friend very well and when I told them I was Armenian, immediately mentioned your name. They were the Biedermans of Lexington. In any case, they said hi. I assume you are the Arina they were speaking of...I just knew your name from Cilicia.com and said I had heard of you and met your brother in 2001 in Armenia.

yes - they lived across the street from me! I've known them for more than 15 years now... what a coincidence!
Gyumri airport is great. We had to fly out of there two years ago during the "100 year freeze" when they bused our whole flight to Gyumri in the arctic snow of January. Don't worry - now they're calling it the "ten year fog". Armenians love naming events. You'll be fine!
Gyumri's airport is better than the Zvartnots?
lol something out of nothing... who knew a little tube of lipstick could actually save lives during fog!!! (inch hanjaregh azk enk!!!!) i love it. :)
