Alright folks, I spent hours sorting through countless articles on the conference in Istanbul and gathering up all the best tidbits in one place, so you can have a good idea of everything that was being said during and about the conference. Enjoy!

JUST IN:

The European Parliament today with 356 for and 181 against votes decided that recognition of the Armenian Genocide is a condition and without that Turkey CANNOT join the European Union.

This is MAJOR news today in all European media,a shock for the Turkish government and shows once again that we are getting closer and closer to justice.

This also comes at an amazing time for American-Armenians to prove their point with Hastert and the Congress.Propaganda, propaganda, propaganda on every level possible!!!!

I saw this on BBC news right after it happened - but it is NON-BINDING, and yet they call it a condition. What the hell?

The European Parliament routinely passes similar resolutions and they really are non-binding. The European
Commission - or rather, the Commision on Enlargement - hold the real strings on issues like these.

Just a question: so what happens if Turkey admits that the massacres were indeed a form of genocide, and
apologizes. What then?

So many things...

Turkey loses even more human rights credibility.

Turkey is forced to continuously recognize and work towards the evil of ethnic cleansing.

Turkey will pretty much have to play nice.

Turkey will have to constantly honor the victims.

Turkey will have to watch its threats against ethnic Armenians worldwide particularly from the Middle East.

Turkey won't be able to repeat the same against other minorities.

Turkey will have to lift requirements on minorities, such as forcing Armenian school children to write essays denying the Genocide.

The list goes on and on and on...

There's a reason why the denial continues.

Here is an interesting post about the Armenian Genocide by Political Science Professor R. J. Rummel.

But why would Turkey lose human rights credibility? Wouldn't Turkey _gain_ credibility instead?
