I am back from Syunik. It felt like an eternity I was there, which is fine with me since it is so incredibly beautiful. There are 3 or 4 areas of Armenia (not counting Karabakh) that vie for the the title of most beautiful, and this is at the top of many peoples lists for good reason. You go from below 500 meters elevation to 2500 meters and back down to 600 then up to 1800 in one day. The mountains are sheer with lots of forest, pastures, hills, rivers, and history. Wow. I have been there before and loved it, but I am still impressed. Kapan especially is a fantastic town to just be in. Great riverwalk and mountain views, a nice kids park which adults can pretend the rides are exciting in, lots of friendly people who are very relaxed... The first few days of the trip were for pleasure with friends, the last few were work related. The really interesting sites we visited this time, different from past visits were a demining project and the border crossing with Iran.
I just moved into this apartment, and have put absolutely nothing away yet, but it is time to start getting ready for work, so that will have to wait for another day, and I will have to cut this log short.
Just one more thing -- STOP OPENING EMAIL ATTACHMENTS!!! I don't know who to curse more, the people writing the viruses, or the people opening them (thus spreading them).
