I was invited to the Opera tonight and the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra was performing in commemoration of Aram Khachaturian. The Armenians really do appreciate music and needless to say it was a great concert. The conductor, Eduard Topchjan, is only 30 years old and has already conducted over 700 concerts with the Serenade ensemble. Armen Babakhanian on the piano has performed in concerts in the US, Canada, Japan, France, Germany, Spain, Great Britain and Ireland. In fact tonights concert was being filmed for viewing on the Japanese NHK Channel. On my way home from the Opera as the sun was setting Ararat was breathtaking.
